The contribution of Utrecht to the study of Compact Stars in Globular Clusters
Abstract
Research in Utrecht on compact stars in globular clusters was triggered by the discovery by Hertz & Grindlay (1983) of low-luminosity X-ray sources in globular clusters. It started with theoretical considerations on the nature, formation and evolution of these sources, to be combined later with extensive observational programmes with ROSAT, Chandra and HST.
